July 19, 1942 - September 14, 2024
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Barbara Joe Gurr, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who left us on September 14, 2024. Born in 1942, Barbara spent most of her life in Thornton, Colorado, where she dedicated herself to her large family and community.
Barbara was an exceptional homemaker known for her compassionate nature and unwavering commitment to helping others. She worked as an administrative secretary for a local elementary school and later for the Adams County 12 School District, where she touched many lives with her warmth and kindness.
A fun-loving spirit, Barbara brought joy wherever she went. She had a particular passion for Christmas, creating a magical experience for her family. From planning gifts in January to crafting jewelry, baking, and even costume making, her creative talents knew no bounds. She often humorously surprised friends, family, and onlookers by arriving in public places dressed in funny costumes, embodying her playful nature.
Barbara is survived by her loving husband, Gary Gurr, and three of her four children: Shelli Dimig, Steve Gurr, and Jane Kraemer. She also leaves behind ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, along with her sister, Kathie Jarrett, and brother, Roy Carmickle. We take comfort in knowing she is reunited in heaven with her parents, two brothers, and her beloved son, David.
A private family memorial will be held on September 28, 2024, to honor and celebrate her extraordinary life. Barbara's legacy of love and laughter will forever remain in our hearts.
