Barbara Lee Mangino was born June 12, 1931 in San Francisco CA to Lillian (Cullen) and Elmer Nussa, and passed away May 3, 2022 in Littleton CO. Barbara loved the Rocky Mountains and spent most of her life in the Denver area. She lived her life full of gusto, never losing her sense of awe, joy, and appreciation in the everyday world, always noticing beauty and wonder wherever she happened to be.
She was married to Fred Mangino from 1978 until his passing in 1994. In the 80s, Barbara and Fred owned and operated a mountain convenience store near Glenwood Springs, Colorado. She had a strong faith and was a member of All Souls Catholic Church for many years. Her fierce work ethic and desire to contribute motivated her to work into her 80s. Many memories and friends were made when she worked at the Denver Press Club. She also spent many years at Valley Country Club.
She was a true animal lover, giving a loving and wonderful home to her dear and special pets, her dogs. She played the piano and loved to watch old movies especially musicals and westerns. She loved to host parties, often inviting over 100 guests. She was an avid sports fan and held Broncos season tickets from the team’s inception.
Barbara was strong and independent with a generous and sentimental spirit. She was always there for her family and friends who might have needed a little help or word of encouragement. She will be greatly missed by her brothers, William Nussa (Dorothy) and Richard Hooper (Joan), as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
