Barbara Marks

September 1, 1943 — August 12, 2022

Our beloved Barbara, wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother peacefully passed away in the presence of her family at her home in Arvada Colorado on August 12, 2022. She was 78. Barb’s radiant smile, quick wit and kindness will be missed by many. She truly was a “kick” to be around.

A Colorado native, Barbara attended Denver Public Schools. She was an East High Angel and a George Washington Patriot. She continued her education at Colorado State College in Greeley, CO. Barbara was a member of the Alpha Phi Sorority. It was at CSC that she met the love of her life Robert “Bob” Marks. They were married February 22, 1963. The family expanded with the births of two daughters Robin and Libby.

Barbara had many talents. She was an exceptional pianist. She taught students to make extra money for the family. With her creativity and her entrepreneurial skills, she and Bob started Jewelry By Marks. She viewed nature as art and with Bob’s chemical background they were able to manufacture jewelry from natural flowers and leaves. Barbara was the creative one and Bob was the technical one [they always complimented each other. ] We always said Barbara was a marketing genius who was able to see future trends, enabling sales success of Real Colorado Flowers and Aspen leaf jewelry.

Barbara had an adventurous side. She and Bob had always dreamed of traveling the world. They became travelers who loved to cruise. [About 40 Honeymoon cruises .] They went to 44 countries and 42 States. One of the most memorable trips was to Machu Picchu. Another very special trip for them was being able to take all four grandchildren on an Alaskan Cruise. It was epic for the kids. The trip consisted of a Helicopter ride, dog sledding, whale watching and the most incredible food buffet around.

Barbara was a very loyal and kind hearted friend. She would always light up a room with her beautiful smile, genuine friendly disposition and her wit.

Barbara was a very loving and devoted mom, simply the best! She taught Robin and Libby to be a “Good Person.” She led by example and taught them to be kind to everyone and to live by the “Golden Rule “. She showed them that with love, hard work and persistence they could achieve anything. She believed Disney World could be wherever you wanted it to be.

Barbara’s pride and joy were her 4 grandchildren Tyler, Kelsey , Boo and Jonny. She spent many weekends at ball games, school programs and parties. They truly gave her happiness. In July 2021, Barbara became a great grandmother. She had a special bond with Zaydyn. (They even liked to mimic each other.) Zaydyn brought her lots of sunshine, smiles and pure joy.

Barbara was an avid bridge player [Do Not pass1 Club if you want to stay married]. Bowling, gardening, hiking and skiing in the mountains were other favorite activities. She was the BEST dog mom around.

Barbara is survived by husband Bob, daughters Robin Marks-Aasen(Jon) and Libby Anderson (John), loving grandchildren

Tyler(Kenna)Anderson, Kelsey(Aaron)Burns, Cameron “Boo” Anderson, Jonny Marks-Aasen,

great grandchild Zaydyn Burns. Sister Wanda Vought (Ken), Brother Gary Walker(Donna), and many nephews and nieces.
