Barbara Jean Oehler

November 5, 1922 — May 27, 2012

Barbara Jean Oehler passed away Sunday morning, May 27, 2012 at Lutheran Collier Hospice. Barbara was born in Houston Missouri, November 5, 1922 to Ludolph and Nina Kirkman. She graduated Pineymo High School in Missouri and was selected Pineymo Queen her senior year of 1940. She continued her education at the University of Missouri in Springfield. During WWII, Barbara worked for the US Army at the Pentagon in Washington DC, and at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri. On September 10, 1949, Barbara married Robert L. Oehler in Denver, Colorado. Soon after, they moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming and started a family. In 1957, Barbara and Robert moved back to Denver. Barbara worked for the US Forest Service until she retired in 1987. Barbara was known for her beautiful, easy smile, dry wit and tireless devotion to her grateful family. Her family cherished her ever present warmth and penchant for paving the road of optimism. She was an avid Bridge player and loved the sites and beauty of the Rocky Mountains. Barbara is survived by her devoted husband, Robert, her five children, Deborah, Kevin, Judith (David), James (Janet), and Gregory (Andrea) as well as six grandchildren and three great grand children. Services will be held at 11:00 on Friday, June 1, 2012 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 1985 Miller Street, Lakewood, Colorado 80215.
