Barbara Louise Rutt, a beacon of love and warmth, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2025, at the age of 95. Born on November 1, 1929, Barbara lived a remarkable life that touched the hearts of all who knew her.
She proudly graduated from North High School, carrying with her the values of hard work and dedication that she would weave into every aspect of her life. A devoted mother to her three children, Deborah, DeDe (David), and Richard “Rick,” Barbara poured her heart and soul into her family. Her legacy is carried on by her loving descendants: her cherished grandchildren DeAndra (Ragan), Danielle (Peter), Evan (Sarah), and Brianne (Justin), along with her seven great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to her life.
Barbara's talents were many; she was a gifted seamstress, lovingly crafting clothes for her children as they grew and creating DeDe’s wedding dress with her own hands—a testament to her love and creativity. She had a special touch not only in her sewing but also in her garden, which flourished under her attentive care. One of Barbara's favorite pastimes was a good bridge game. Barbara's nurturing spirit extended beyond her family. She spent her professional years working at the Denver Dry Goods Company and later joined her best friends, John and Peg Dougherty, at Hickory Farms once her children ventured off to college.
Her home was a sanctuary filled with laughter, love, and the delicate scent of blooming flowers. Barbara will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her unwavering love for her family, and her ability to bring people together. She was a loving wife and mother, whose presence will be profoundly missed.
A celebration of Barbara's life will be held at Horan & McConaty Funeral Service and Cremation - Southwest Denver/Lakewood, located at 3101 S Wadsworth Blvd, Lakewood, CO 80227. Friends and family are invited to gather on February 28, 2025. The service will commence at 10:00 AM, followed by additional moments of remembrance concluding at Fort Logan National Cemetery.
As we reflect on Barbara's life, we cherish the memories she gave us, her enduring spirit, and the love she so freely shared. Rest in peace, beloved Barbara. Your legacy of love will continue to inspire all who had the pleasure of knowing you.
