Barbara was born in Glendale, West Virginia on August 2, 1937 to her proud parents Hilda Marie Reed and Charles Henry Schultz. Barbara graduated in 1957 from Union High School. She was then married to Ronald Mack in 1959. During Ronald's time in the US Army, he served in Korea. While Ronald was serving overseas, Barbara worked for GC Murphy for 4 years in Washington, DC. Ronald eventually found another love in Korea, and Barbara received the Dear John letter. After picking up the pieces and dusting off her pride, Barbara met and then married Van Jordon SR. He was serving active duty in the US Army. Barbara and Van were married in 1960, and moved to Reno, Nevada. Barbara was reunited with her best friend from childhood, Shirley. In 1962, Van SR and Barbara had a son, named Van Jordon, JR. and they later divorced in 1964. Barbara liked Reno so she chose to stay there. In 1973, she met William Capps. They moved to Rapid City, South Dakota, then to Durham, North Carolina. William passed away in 2008. Barbara loved the West and the adventures it provided. She also loved Rodeo's and anything to do with the outdoors. She was an animal lover, and very quick to pull out the camera. Barbara will truly be missed by all. Her Love and belief in God were always number one. Barbara is preceded in death by her mother Hilda, her father Charles Schultz, and her brother Jack. She also suffered the loss of her 15 year old granddaughter, Angela Roberts. Barbara is survived by her son Van Jr. Jordan from Elko, Nevada and her Daughter Anita and Anita's husband, Steve Gilstrap, from Thornton Colorado. Barbara has 5 grandchildren. Nicole Hawse, Christina Jordan, who are all in Martinsburg, West Virginia. The rest of her grandchildren, Aspen Gelski, Jessica GelskiâGarcia, Aron Garcia, and Curtis Gilstrap all reside in Thornton, Colorado. Barbara is survived by 4 great grandchildren: Michael Garcia from Thornton Colorado, as well as Lexi Jordan, Tony Smith III, and Christopher Coombs who all reside in Martinsburg WV. Funeral services will be held October 3rd, 2015 at 2pm at the Eureka Opera House located at 31 S Main St, Eureka, NV, 89316. The family requested that in lieu of flowers, that donations for the Barbara Jordan Fund be made to the Diamond Valley Baptist Church located at HC 62 Box 62131 Eureka, NV 89316.
