With the spark of her green eyes and a smile that could warm anyone’s soul, Barabara Ransford Sidey had the natural ability to use humor to soothe any moment. She was one of a kind, an amazing woman who was quick to make you laugh with her wit and charm and the first to let the hard times roll off her back.
She was the kind of person who would start crying when she saw you after a long hiatus. People gravitated towards her. She was warm and compassionate and always comforted the person most overlooked in a room. Friends and family gatherings were always better when Barbie arrived.
Equipped with a designer’s eye, she effortlessly restored antique furniture, transforming houses into homes and holding a deep appreciation for beauty in art and design. Everyone wanted to steal her wardrobe. She played it off so casually when people inquired about her stylish secrets. Radiating confidence, she was chic and carefree.
Barbara leaves behind her high school sweetheart of over 40 years and their life in Denver. Her pride and joy have always been her two sons, Colin and Patrick Sidey. She held a unique bond with her boys; one many could only aspire to. She left this world knowing their partners Katherine Ferraro and Krista Huffman would care for her sons.
She was born on February 3rd, 1957, in Dunkirk, New York. Barbara leaves behind three sisters, Regina Ransford, Robin Hallowell, and Carole Glowacki, as well as four brothers, Edward Ransford, Larry Ransford, Jim Ransford, and Rick Ransford and her deceased parents, Mary Jean Ransford and James Robert Ransford. She was an aunt to fourteen nieces and nephews from coast to coast.
With this, we raise our glass to this incredible woman with piercing eyes and jet black hair who captured our hearts, as we repeat one of her finest phrases, “It’s amazing what a glass of wine can do for your complexion!”
