Barry Keith Pflug

Surrounded by his loved ones, Barry Keith Pflug passed away on Sunday, September 30, 2018, at his home in Centennial, CO. He was born on October 20, 1948 to Glen and Arline (Keith) Pflug in Pueblo, CO.

Graduating from Woodland Park High School in 1967, Barry served in the Navy from 1967 to 1970 aboard the USS Hancock stationed off the coast of Vietnam. He married Melody Mays in 1972. They were blessed with two children and three grandchildren.

Spending the majority of his life in Colorado, he retired from Teller County Road and Bridge. He and long time friend, Vic Hines, were avid hunting buddies and sewed up for themselves a custom outfitters lodge tent measuring 12' by 14'. Complete with wall to wall shag carpet it was appropriately named Camp Hilton.

Barry enjoyed boating and fishing and was awesome on a slalom ski. He was a volunteer for the Divide Fire Department and was a member of The Woodland Park VFW Post 6051. The Bronocs were his team and he arm chair coached them from his living room like they could hear him out on the field. In early years Barry was nicknamed Bear by his friends. In later years his family fittingly named him Bearcat due to his ‘coaching' many things. He earned the hat and wore it proudly.

He loved time spent with family and friends and there wasn't a gathering of any sort that he didn't want to attend. The only stranger he ever knew was the one he hadn't met yet.

He is survived by his wife Melody, daughter Holly Holmes (Jason), son Kevin (Audra) and grandchildren: Cody, Ava and Zoey. Brother Steve Pflug, Wheat Ridge; Sisters: Peggy Merrill, Oregon; Kay Wendel, Texas and Carol Pflug, Colorado Springs; many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service and celebration of life will be held on October 9 at 1:00 pm at Horan and McConaty Funeral Home located at 11150 E Dartmouth Ave, Aurora, CO. On line guest register is available at www.HoranCares.com. The family is wearing various shades of blue to the service and welcomes anyone else who would like to join them.
