Ben Jordan, 90, of Lakewood. Preceded in death by his son, Neal; loving wife of 47+ years, Lyda; and devoted second wife of 17 years, Barbara. Survived by daughter, Terrie Ray. Born in Wadley, GA on 1/3/16. Honor student at Clemson University; graduated 1938 with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. Active/Reserve Military service from 1938 to 1966 in the Army/Air Force; WWII service in Asiatic/Pacific Theater; Air Force pilot, flight engineer. Automotive enthusiast; founder of a team that holds 7 Land Speed Records at Bonneville Salt Flats. Advocate of hydrogen as an engine fuel; converted and drove first hydrogen-fueled car to run at Bonneville (1981); built turbocharged 1924 Model T Ford Depot Hack. Ben died on the Ides of March, 2006, and will be remembered as a brilliant eccentric and man of numerous accomplishments. Memorial Service Wednesday, 10:30 a.m., Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 3101 So. Wadsworth Blvd. Interment Fort Logan National Cemetery.
