Bennie Leonard Quintana

Bennie Leonard Quintana of Aurora Colorado died at his home on Friday, August 31, 2012. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca (Chavez) Quintana, four siblings, Daniel Vigil, Emma Aguirres, Mary (Tony) Maestas and Jeanette (Hank) Maestas, seven children, Leonard, Lenette (Bill) Anker, Lonnie (Giovanni), Lannon (Joanna), Lee, Pamela, Sally Chambless, sixteen grandchildren, three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Ben was one of 13 children and he was born at the family home, in Denver, on September 29, 1945 to Bennie and Grace Quintana. They moved to a farm, and he attended school, in Dupont Colorado. After joining the Air Force he served as an electronics technician at Vandenberg AFB in California. He worked on missile systems at the Aerospace Test Wing. Following his honorable discharge, Ben returned to Colorado and worked in the concrete industry for 35 years. In addition to building his own business, Custom Concrete Company, he worked for other companies including Three Wit Cooper and Co., Denny Davis Co. and Sedilo and Son's. Ben had a passion for drag racing, both as a competitor and as an avid fan. He built several street rods and show cars. He was a good mechanic and he helped his family with numerous other automotive projects. Ben owned Harley Davidson motorcycles and he and Becky participated in motorcycle rallies together, including trips to the rally at Sturgis SD. Ben's other favorite activities included fishing and watching the Broncos with his family and friends. A Recitation of the Rosary will begin at 9:30am, followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:00am on Monday, September 10, 2012 at Our Lady of Lourdes Cathlic Parish, 2200 South Logan Street, in Denver, CO 80210. A Committal Service will follow at 12:30pm at the Ft. Logan National Cemetery, 3698 South Sheridan Boulevard, in Denver, CO 80235. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Ben Quintana to Our lady of Lourdes Catholic Parish2200 South Logan Street, Denver, CO 80210 or Developmental Pathways Inc., 325 Inverness Drive South, Englewood, CO 80112.
