Bernadette was an amazing and accomplished woman. She obtained a BS from Loretto Heights College, and a Masters from St. Louis University. Her greatest enjoyment professionally was as a teacher. She taught nutrition at the University of Wyoming Mercy School of Nursing and Ferris State College in Michigan, and sociology at Regis College and the University of Northern Colorado. She also worked for the Colorado State Health Department. She was a registered dietitian for 50 years. She also had a great love of dance. She began ballet at a very young age and danced through her college years. She always enjoyed the opportunity to dance, especially at her grandchildren's weddings.
Her faith and her family were the most important part of her life. She was the most amazing mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She attended every school, dance, theatrical and sporting event for her children and grandchildren. She was also well loved by her brothers and her nieces and nephews. Over the years she had been a parishioner at Christ the King parish in Evergreen, CO, and St. Joan of Arc and Shrine of St. Anne's in Arvada. In recent years she had been blessed with a very special community at Nativity of Our Lord parish in Broomfield.
In lieu of flowers, Bernadette would have loved to see donations made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association (720 S Colorado Blvd #380-S, Denver, CO 80246), for research into the disease that has affected one of her grandsons; to the Little Sisters of the Poor (3629 W 29th Ave, Denver, CO 80211), a truly amazing order that runs Mullen Home, and for whom she was blessed to work with during her career; and finally to Lutheran Hospice at the Collier Center (3210 N Lutheran Pkwy, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033) for the exceptional care she received during her final days.
Recitation of the Rosary will be read on Monday, January 6, 2020 at 5pm at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, 900 West Midway Boulevard, Broomfield, Colorado 80020.
