Bernard S. (Bernie) Karpinski was born on January 27, 1925 in La Crosse, Wisconsin to Stanley S. and Emma (Tomsicek) Karpinski. Shortly thereafter, his parents moved Bernie and sisters to Northern Colorado where they established and operated a family farm. Bernie was married to the love of his life, Violet, who proceeded him in death in 2012. They shared over 60 years of wonderful, happy years together; traveling, square dancing and playing pinnacle with numerous good friends. Bernie had a love for music and was an active member of the Most Precious Blood Parish choir. He was the first to sing Happy Birthday to family and friends in his beautiful baritone voice whenever the occasion arose.
Bernie is preceded in death by Violet, his parents, Stanley and Emma, and his sisters - Jeanette Schott, Rosalie Knoll, Genevieve Potter, Eleanor Fetzer and their spouses. Bernie is survived by Wilma (Claude) Brown and Ginny Zember, Sisters-in-law, Ray, Patty and Amanda Erjavec who looked over Bernie and Vi in their later years, as well as several other nieces and nephews.
Bernie was a proud Navy veteran. Upon discharge, Bernie devoted his entire professional career to Public Service Company of Denver as an electrician and appliance service technician. He could repair just about anything! Bernie will be remembered for his friendliness and devotion to Vi.
Bernie departed this life on January 12, 2020, just two weeks short of his 95th birthday.
The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers and food, contributions be made to the Pueblo Community College Foundation for the Nursing and Allied Health Teaching and Learning Center of Excellence, 900 W. Orman, Pueblo, CO 81004.
