Woody, Bernard Lee 1923 - 2012 Bernard passed away peacefully in his home on April 27, 2012. He was born into this world by Wilford and Sally Woody October 2, 1923. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Cecile June 22, 2010 and his parents Wilford and Sally, sister Lois. Surviving Bernard are his sons Eric, Brian and Cary and grandchildren Andrew, Lauren, Megan, Matthew, Grace and Sara. Bernard graduated from East High School in Denver in 1940 where he received a 2-year scholarship from the University of Denver. He continued his education in 1942 at Stanford University until May 1943 when his enlisted into the U.S. Army for service in World War II. He served from May 1943 until March 1946 in both the European and Japanese theatres of war. He returned to Stanford in 1946 graduating with a Degree in Chemical Engineering in 1948. He was and an outstanding pitcher for the Stanford Baseball team and was president of his fraternity Beta Theta Pi in 1948. After graduating from Stanford, he worked with engineering firms Stearns and Rogers, and Colorado Interstate Gas until 1960. He then entered the investment business from 1960 until 2004. Most notably, he served as the Branch Manager for Glore Forgan, Staats, Inc. from 1968 until 1976; and Stifel Nicolaus & Co. from 1976 until 1987. He concluded his career in 2004 working with his son Eric at Redstone Capital. Woody was an outstanding golfer who qualified for the 1949 USGA National Public Links Championship played in Los Angeles. He won the Park Hill Country Club Jackie Hartman Memorial Trophy in 1951 and 1952. He was the runner-up in the 1951 and 1967 Colorado Golf Association Match Play Championship, and runner-up in the Wellshire Invitational five times between 1949 and 1981. He was also a founding member of Hiwan Golf Club in Evergreen where he won the club championship four times between 1964 and 1974.
