Bernice Lillian Boman New

January 26, 1930 — September 22, 2012

Bernice L. New (Boman) entered into the Kingdom of her Lord on September 22, 2012, surrounded by her loving family and friends. Bernice was born on January 26, 1930 in Broadwater, Nebraska. She grew up on a Nebraska farm, attended country school, and graduated from Broadwater High School in 1947. She later moved to Colorado where she raised her family. No matter what life dealt, she had a positive attitude. Whatever the difficulties of each day, she relied on God's word that taught her, 'The joy of the Lord is my strength' Nehemiah 8:10. She looked at the glass not just half full, but overflowing. Her kind, caring, and loving attitude is reflected in the numerous friends and family that loved her dearly. She always had a strong work ethic which showed in her determination to get any job at hand done and done right. She always felt better about working hard and was never one to sit idly by, being busy kept her happiest. We heard her say many times, ""Any job worth doing is worth doing well"" and ""Many hands make light work."" She loved sewing and was the ultimate perfectionist when it came to fitting seams together. She was blessed with a creative, artistic ability and loved drawing, painting, and all craft projects. Singing was always one of her biggest enjoyments and she had a beautiful voice. She even sang with the Sweet Adeline's organization, traveling to Washington DC for competition. She made sure that all of her kids had the opportunity to experience music of all kinds. Her love of music and dancing, brought her great pleasure and satisfaction. She loved ""Dancing with the Stars"" and never failed to vote for her favorites. Bernice had a wonderful sense of humor and had the ability to laugh at herself. Life was fun as she tried to find the humor in everything. She would always say, ""Laughter is the best medicine."" She first came to know Jesus as a young girl attending a country church meeting. Bernice did everything she could to instill in her children that strong desire she had to walk with the Lord. The strong pillar of truth, that she was, left a wonderful legacy for those around her. Bernice is survived by her sister: Anna Marie Boman of Bridgeport, NE. Four children: Greg New of Centennial, CO; Gwen New of Elizabeth, CO; Gayle Boman (Gary Adams) of Westminster, CO; and Geri Brigham (Steve) of Kenai, AK. Five grandchildren: Danelle Ebbel (Matt) of New York, NY; Jerett New of Centennial, CO; Daniel Olguin of Dallas, TX; Michelle Brigham of Adelaide, Australia; and Todd Brigham (Emily) of Kenai, AK.
