Bernice A. “Bernie” Roberts, 95, of Aurora, Colorado, passed away on December 28, 2021, in Parker, Colorado.
Bernie was born on December 3, 1926, in Peetz, Colorado, the second of seven children born to Agnes and Joseph Fehringer. She graduated from Saint Patrick Academy in Sidney, Nebraska as Valedictorian of her class. Bernie went on to attend Loretta Heights College in Denver, Colorado, before going to work at Security Life Insurance Company from 1945 to 1951.
Bernie met and went on to marry the love of her life, Bolin Edward “Ed” Roberts in August 1950. As she stated, they were “blessed with two precious children, John and Beth”.
In 1974, Bernie began her most enjoyed employment going to work for Larry Mizel at MDC Corporation and C-Ventures where she continued to work full time until her retirement in 2015 at the age of 89. She continued contact with the Mizel family until her death. She dearly loved her time with the Mizels.
As a younger woman, Bernie enjoyed dancing, being frustrated with the game of golf, traveling with family and friends, and spending as much time as possible with her beloved family. For over 20 years she prepared and hosted her annual Christmas brunch in her home with her entire family around her. She also played bridge regularly at Heather Gardens where she lived for 32 years. She was a lifelong Catholic who both practiced and deeply believed in her faith.
She is survived by her children, John (Dina) Roberts, Beth (Scott) Dubravac, bonus daughters, Sue Altes and Carol (Norman) Cooper.
Her beloved grandchildren, Amy Roberts-Matute (Edgar Matute), Brian (Heather) Dubravac, Lisa Roberts, Jon (Jodi) Dubravac, Anna (Blair) Higgins, Kristin (Ken) Clark, Robin (Rodney) Sanders.
Also, her great-grandchildren, Sean Dubravac, Maya Sprague, Max Matute, Brady Sprague, Grace Dubravac, Leo Matute, Isabella Dubravac, Grant Sprague, and Jon Dubravac, Jr.
She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Agnes Fehringer, her beloved husband, Ed, her bonus son, Bob, and his wife Judy Altes, and all of her brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be held from 10:30 to 11:30 AM, followed by Mass of Christian Burial from 11:30 to 12:30 PM at Horan and McConaty at 7577 W. 80th Avenue, Arvada, CO. Graveside services are at 1:30pm at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 12801 W. 44th Avenue, Wheat Ridge, CO.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, The American Heart Association, The American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
