Bettie Jean Spangler Woodson Streifel went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on December 11, 2007. She was a loving and caring mother, wife and sister and will be missed by all her family and friends. Bettie Jean was born on December 3, 1934 in Roanoke, VA to Charles and Lola Belle Amos Spangler. While in William Fleming High School she served as a drum majorette with a hobby of roller skating. After graduating she worked as an assistant to several physicians and dentists in Roanoke. After her marriage to Lawrence Woodson, she moved to northern Virginia where she reared her family and held several positions in the health care business. She also served as a school crossing guard. She is survived by her husband of 11 years Leonard Streifel; a son, Lawrence 'Rick' Woodson; a daughter, Shari Woodson; a grandson, Robert Woodson (all of the Denver area), and a brother, Charles Spangler, Jr. of Roanoke, VA along with numerous nieces and nephews. Bettie was preceded in death by a sister, Kathryn Elizabeth Secrist of Roanoke, VA and a brother, George W. 'Joe' Spangler of Lookout Mountain, TN. She and the family moved Colorado where she continued as a homemaker, a school crossing guard and technician in the healthcare field for an allergist. During this time she became interested in the area of massage therapy, attended a school for massage therapy and became certified. She practiced in the Denver area for over 20 years before retiring. She said of her career, 'I enjoy making people feel good.' Her words reflected attitude toward life of helping others and making them feel good about themselves.
