Betty Jean Bahr

December 19, 1932 — May 2, 2016

Betty Jean Bahr, of Aurora, Colorado, age 83, died at The Denver Hospice on Monday, May 2, 2016. The cause was complications from a stroke. Born December 1932 in Big Spring, Texas, she worked as a telephone switchboard operator until marrying in 1954 and then primarily spent her time as a homemaker. Betty Jean joined the Friends of the Aurora Public Library (FAPL) Book Outlet as a volunteer in 2002. She was a member of Mississippi Avenue Baptist Church in Aurora, CO. Her many interests included reading, quilting, genealogy, western history and DIY projects. Survivors include a son, Michael D. Bahr and daughter-in-law Cheri of Longmont, CO, a daughter, Valerie J. (Bahr) Green, of Aurora, CO, sisters Joy Sisco (Don) of Carthage, MO, Judy Burchett (Wayne) of Midland, TX, and grandchildren Michelle (Bahr) Richardson, Joshua Bahr, and Matthew Bahr as well as numerous great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donold L. Bahr, a son, Rory B. Bahr, and her parents, Ruth McMurray Bradberry and Albert Evans Bradberry. Services will be held on Monday, May 9, 2016, at Mississippi Avenue Baptist Church, Aurora, CO, with visitation at 10 a.m., memorial service at 10:30 a.m., and burial at 1:30 p.m. at Ft. Logan National Cemetery. Relatives and friends are welcome to attend the memorial service at MABC and the procession to Ft. Logan. Memorial contributions are welcome at Friends of the Aurora Public Library Book Outlet located at 2243 S. Peoria Street, Aurora, CO 80014; the Denver Hospice, 8299 E. Lowry Blvd., Denver, CO 80230; or Mississippi Avenue Baptist Church, 13231 E. Mississippi Avenue, Aurora, CO 80012.
