Betty M. Chalmers

Betty M. Chalmers passed in her Denver home on December 11, 2016 at the age of 94. Betty is survived by her sons – Jack (Barbara Gilroy) of Lanexa, VA, Rik (Rhonda Smith) of Denver, CO and Gary (Janet Gamble) of Aurora, CO. Betty was born in Salina, Kansas and moved to Denver with her family in the early 1940s. She joined the Navy during World War II where she met her husband, Jack, who predeceased her. After her discharge, Betty and Jack moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan where they had their three sons. Later, they moved to Denver. Betty loved playing golf and gardening. Other survivors include grandchildren – Shane (Nicole), Kilcha (Rob Goos), Shari (Randy Mumford), Tavis, Joe (Toni); great grandchildren – Keenan, Reagan, Jordan (Andrea Childers), Nathan, Abbie and Andrew; great great grandchild - Jaxin. Betty is also survived by her brother Robert Poland (Wilma) and Shirley Connor (Richard). Those preceding Betty in death include her sister, Bonnie Riedel, her nephews, Rod Poland and Courtney (Corky) Riedel and niece, JoAnn Fish. A memorial service will be conducted at Horan and McConaty Family Chapel, 9998 Grant Street, Thornton, on Sunday, December 18, 2016 at 1:30 pm. Betty will be buried at Fort Logan National Cemetery next to her husband, Jack, on December 23, 2016 at 1:00 pm.
