Betty Dee Davee

November 15, 1939 — June 13, 2023

Betty Dee (Brown) Davee was born on November 15, 1939, in Fort Collins, Colorado to Henry and Dorothy Brown. She grew up in Eaton, CO where she graduated from Eaton High School in 1958. Betty went on to attend Colorado Women’s College in Denver and graduated in 1960 with an Associate Degree in business.  She worked at Colorado National Bank in Denver for ten years, and Union Bank & Trust for four years.

Betty took square dance lessons in 1965, which started her on the path to meet the love of her life. Eight years later, in 1973 she met Robert “Bob” Davee at a square dance in Salt Lake City.  Shortly after, on April 21, 1974 they were married at Whatley Chapel on the former Colorado Women’s College campus. At that time, Bob was serving in the USAF in Boise, Idaho (Mountain Home AFB), but soon after he was transferred to Thailand, where they stayed for one year. Upon returning to the States, they lived in Clearfield, UT (Hill AFB) for four more years.

When Bob retired in 1979, after 31 years in the Air Force, they settled in Arvada, Colorado, and opened B&B Square Dance Fashions store. They owned and ran the store for 27 years. In 1993 they moved to Westminster, CO where they built their dream home. They loved the years in their home, until 2018, when health issues forced a change.

After selling their store and retiring in 2007, Betty and Bob continued to travel, finishing their quest to square dance in all 50 states and stay in all the historic National Park lodges. They also visited friends and family across the country and stayed active in their local Colorado Ghost Town Club. At home, they both loved being in their yard, gardening, and canning.

Throughout her entire life, Betty spent significant time every summer at the family cabin that her parents built in 1947.  That cabin, on the Cache la Poudre River, was where her most special memories with friends and family were made. All of the scrapbooks, Betty and her mom spent hours making there, gave her great enjoyment in her later years. She was always very proud to share and remember those times with anyone who had “the time to travel with her” on any given day.

Betty was a member of the Arvada United Methodist Church beginning in 1980. Among her proudest accomplishments were all the years she was a member of the choir. She sang in the church choir up until it became too difficult to stand for long concerts.

After Bobs passing in 2018, Betty faced some tough decisions. Parkinson’s did not allow her to remain at home alone. With the support and help of family and many friends, she agreed to close out her home, and remain at Greenridge Place, just around the corner from her and Bob’s beloved home. She had very dear friends who called and wrote her frequently; some even called her every day, faithfully visited her every week, and drove her around as often as possible.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy Webster Brown (1977) and Henry Isaac Brown (1991); her brother, Robert “Bob” Brown (2010); her and Bob’s nephew, Robert Davee (2016); and her beloved husband, Robert Ray Davee (2018).

She is survived by her sister-in-law, Donna Brown; niece, Jill Harmon (Wagner); their children Brittney and Weston (Rebecca); great niece, Kassidy; and nephew Scott Brown (Rachel). Also, her brother-in-law, Doug (Leslie) and their two sons, Stephen and Edward.
