April 6, 1938 — January 26, 2008

Betty Sue Fox-DeLong came into this world on April 6, 1938. Born in Burkes Garden, Virginia she was the only child of Minace Boling Fox and Mary Belle Shrader Fox. At the age of three, her family moved to Radford Virginia, where she lived until she graduated from Radford High School. She attended Nursing School at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA. She received a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from the Metropolitan State College of Denver in 1993. Her passion for life, showed in her commitment to her family and her life's work as a Nurse. On Saturday, January 26, 2008, at 6:25 a.m. surrounded by family, she entered into the heavenly realm where God is now holding her, and her light shines as a beacon for all departed earthly souls to follow, where she will once again embrace them in her caring spirit. She leaves a legacy of love, including her lifetime soul mate, Bill DeLong, her children, for which she was so proud, Karen Susanne Guthery, Deborah Lynn Guthery-Owen, Dr. Stephen Guthery, Mark DeLong, Kerry Torkelson, Scott DeLong, and Shelly DeLong-Becker. Her Grandchildren for whom she was smitten, Tyler Andrykowski, Jessica Owen, Allison Owen, Andrew Guthery, Rachel Guthery, Tristian DeLong, Alexander DeLong, Alison DeLong, Chas DeLong, Myles DeLong, Tiffany Rylant and many cousins, Aunts and Uncles, Nephews and Nieces Her proudest moments included her involvement with NOAN (The National Association of Orthopedic Nurses) in which she found deep friendships, a new found passion to teach and an undying commitment to the organization, her work at the University of Colorado Medical Center where she developed lifetime friendships, shared her gift of healing and worked with some of the most renowned Drs. in their fields. She made many treks up some of Colorado’s highest Peaks where she felt she was on top of the world and she realized this is home. She will be remembered for her capacity to love unconditionally, her commitment to the needs of others without hesitation, and her ability to embrace every aspect of her life with humor, compassion and strength. She was truly an angel among us. And although God called her home before we were ready to let her go, her family and friends will find comfort in knowing her lessons in love will continue to grow through many generations to come.
