Betty J. Hoffman, 93, of Highlands Ranch, CO passed away September 18, 2018 in Littleton, CO. She was born in Lincoln, Nebraska on May 7, 1925 to Harold and Martha (Witte) Harpster.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Harry Hoffman. She is survived by her son, Thomas of Westminster, CO, her daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Gary Van Doorn of Highlands Ranch, CO and two grandsons, Scott Van Doorn of Gunnison, CO, and Jared Van Doorn of Los Angeles, CA.
Betty graduated from Lincoln High School in 1942 and attended the University of Nebraska while working at Western Union Telegraph Company. She was employed by Bryan Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1969 as a secretary and retired as Coordinator of Student Services in 1989.
Betty volunteered at Veterans Hospital and Welfare Society, Inc. and bowled in senior citizen leagues. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday School, and volunteered in the office.
In 2001, Betty moved to Colorado to be close to her family. She bowled, volunteered at Koebel Library in the used bookstore for several years, and enjoyed playing cards, and socializing with her neighbors.
A reception honoring Betty will be held Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at 2:30 pm at Horan & McConaty Reception Center, 5303 E. County Line Road, Centennial, CO 80122.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 12, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Westminster Presbyterian Church 2110 Sheridan Blvd. Lincoln, Nebraska 68502. A Private graveside service will take place at Lincoln Memorial Park in Lincoln, Nebraska.
