Betty Hunt

August 8, 1921 — March 21, 2006

Betty Jane Brown Hunt, born August 8, 1921, gone to God on March 21, 2006. Betty was the last surviving child of Carl and Muriel Brown, late of Denver, Colorado. Betty was a child of the Roaring Twenties and part of Tom Browkaw's 'Greatest Generation' that pulled this nation through the Great Depression and World War II. She was also part of that same generation that produced the prosperity that followed. Betty was a devoted wife and mother. She met the one true love of her life while performing her WWII duties in a 'Rosie the Riveter' job at the old Remington Arms plant in 1942. A year later she married Ivy Garrett Hunt of Littleton and they shared a wonderful life that spanned the next six decades and three generations. Upon his return from WWII, Betty and Ivy started a family that now includes five children, nine grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. An active member of Calvary Baptist Church, Betty was the stereotypical Mom. She was there when someone needed a shoulder to cry on and when that same someone needed to celebrate. She soldiered through and nursed for her ailing in-laws and her dying Mother. She was there when her children had children with a smile and a hug for the newest arrival to the Hunt clan. In time of crisis or triumph, she was always the first to arrive and the last to leave '"" and there was always a place at her table. She was the rock upon which the Hunt family foundation was built and she will be sorely missed. Betty is survived by her husband of nearly 63 years, Ivy Hunt. She has five children, Stephen of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Kim, Douglas, Mark and Robin, all of Littleton Colorado. Betty, as previously stated, was proud of her four grandsons, five granddaughters, one great-grandson and a great-granddaughter. They will all remember her with the first flower of spring that signals new life and a new beginning. She will be with them when the first snow of a Colorado winter clears the air and cleanses the earth. She is part of each of them now and they will cherish her memory and pass her blessing to the next generation. A memorial service is planned for Friday, March 24, 2006 at Calvary Baptist Church in Denver. In lieu of flowers, please send a like donation to the Juvenile Diabetes Society in the name of Betty Hunt.
