Betty Rose Kunzman

Betty Rose Kunzman was born in Weldona, Colorado to Roy and Mary Kunzman.  She and her brother, William, grew up together on the family farm, always around nature and animals.

In Weldona, she was always outgoing and even a little rebellious as a teenager.  She excelled in education, obtaining her Bachelors in math, Phi Beta Kappa from University of Denver.  Later in life she returned to DU to obtain her Masters in Business Administration.

For her career, she had a brief stint as a teacher, but found her calling in the Air Force.  She dedicated 20 years of service to the Air Force,  retiring with the rank of Lieutenant Coronel.

She had a life-long passion for horses. Riding horses and, later in her life, transitioning to being pulled behind a miniature horse, Zeke, whom she always fondly remembered.  She loved animals and held a special place in her heart for four legged creatures.  Throughout her life dogs were always her companions.  After retirement, she spent as much free time as possible at the stables.

She was an avid reader and was strong in her convictions on what she believed.  She was a good friend to many.  If you were lucky enough to know her you got to see how sharp she was and enjoy her witty and sarcastic sense of humor.   Even if she was the younger sister, she made sure to continue to advocate for her “Brother Bill” and she maintained a close relationship with him throughout her life.

Despite the physical challenges she faced as she got older, she continued to strive to be as physically able as possible, as well as independent of thought.

Betty is survived by her brother, Bill.
