Betty Ann Skerik

April 8, 1937 — February 23, 2011

Betty Skerik was freed from her 4 year battle with Corticobasal Degeneration on the 23rd of February, 2011 at Life Care Center in Aurora, Colorado. Betty was born on April 8, 1937 in Blackduck, Minnesota to Oscar and Ann Berg. She was the only daughter in a family of 7 children. Betty graduated from Blackduck High School with many awards in music and drama. She married her loving husband, Richard, in 1956. They had 3 children together: Stacey (married to Richard) of Aurora, Colorado; Bradley (married to Barbara) of Sherburne, Minnesota; and Wendy (married to Scott) of Elk River, Minnesota. Betty was an active traveler with her husband. They visited all but one state, most of Canada, some of Mexico, plus many locations overseas. She enjoyed living in several places throughout the United States with Richard, always anxious to meet new friends. She also loved good food and socializing. She had a wonderful smile that could light up a room. The thing that mattered most to Betty was her family, especially her grandchildren (Chelsea, Jessica, Meaghan, Aaron, and Alli) and great-grandchildren (Grace and Abigail). One of her favorite things was reading a book to one of her grandchildren while they were curled up on her lap. Betty is preceded in death by her parents and 3 of her brothers. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brothers, and many nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind many wonderful friends. Any money that is received as a memorial will be donated to Total Longterm Care (Chambers Center). Without them, Betty would not have been able to spend the last couple of years of her life in her own home, being lovingly taken care of by her husband.
