Betty Lou (B Lou) Cormier

Betty Lou Cormier, age 99, died on March 26, 2022.  She was born in Los Angeles County California on January 6, 1923, to Eugene and Mary O’Hare. She grew up in San Marino, attended Ramona Convent and UCLA where she joined the Alpha Phi sorority. B Lou graduated in 1946 from UCLA with a degree in psychology.  After a week spent learning to ski in Sun Valley Idaho in 1948, she fell in love with mountain snow and the Rockies.  She then moved to Aspen Colorado where she became a ski instructor and worked at the Jerome Hotel. There she met her husband Lefty Cormier, a veteran of the 10th Mountain Division and many of her best friends. She became an excellent skier and fell in love with Colorado. B Lou and Lefty were married on September 26, 1953 and moved to Denver where they raised their four children. She led a very active life.  She was an outstanding tennis player and won many local tennis tournaments.  B Lou loved summers at Skyline Acres Swim and Tennis Club.  She enjoyed many years of tennis, lap swimming, and spending time with her friends, family, and grandchildren.  Until the age of 93 she attended water aerobics 5 days a week at Athletic Club Monaco.  When she moved on to Brookdale University Park in 2016, she again made many new friends and was a regular in the exercise class and Friday night Happy Hours! B Lou died at 99 with family and friends by her side. What a wonderful life she had!

B Lou will be remembered by all for her intelligence, kindness, great sense of humor and her strong will to never give up.

Survivors include her three children Mary Lou Brown (Bob), Betsy Poremba (Andy), and Peter Cormier, eight grandchildren Kevin, Tim, Michelle (Mary Lou); Christa, Tony, Natalie (Betsy); Maddie, Aiden (Michael); and three great grandchildren; Isabella, Elyse, and Mia. Betty Lou was preceded in death by her husband Lefty, son Michael (Nancy), brother Bud O’ Hare and sister Mary Margaret Allan.

Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, April 21, 2022 at 10am at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, 2200 S Harrison St, Denver, Colorado with reception to follow.  For those unable to attend the Funeral Mass, there will be live-streaming at https://mpbdenver.org/live . Graveside at 1:30pm at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 3698 South Sheridan, Denver, Colorado (staging area "B").
