December 25, 1929 — February 28, 2019

Mrs. Bettymae C. Slewitzke, of Englewood Colorado, met Our Lord on Thursday, February 28, 2019 at the age of 89.

Betty was born to parents, Arthur and Agnes Rathke, on December 25, 1929 in Merrill, Wisconsin. She grew up as the Youngest of three girls and attended Merrill High School and worked in the Weinbrenner Shoe Factory in Merrill. In 1956, she met James Slewitzke on a blind date arranged by a friend. After a short courtship, Jim and Betty were married on June 15, 1957. Jim was her everything! The couple had four children and started their life together in West Allis, Wisconsin. In 1966, the family moved to Englewood, Colorado where Betty started working with Sheridan Schools as a cook and kitchen manager in 1972. She worked at Ora Oliver Elementary, Sheridan High School and Alice Terry Elementary before retiring in 1994. After retirement, Betty helped Jim with his insurance agency until he retired in 1999. After Jim's retirement, they moved to Glacier View near Livermore, Colorado and built the most amazing home where they lived until 2013. Most recently, Jim and Betty lived in an assisted living community in Lakewood, Colorado.

Betty LOVED cooking and baking! She made the best bread and pizza! Betty shared her love of cooking with Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts through the years and after retirement. Betty and Jim volunteered at church functions and would cook at the local elementary school in Red Feather, Colorado. Her hobbies included sewing and crafts, camping, travel and baking.

Betty is survived by her husband Jim, her sons: Mark Slewitzke and Paul Slewitzke (wife, Tammy), daughters: Kathy Slewitzke and Patty Tsosie. Betty had 12 Grandchildren that were cherished: Michael Belknap, Corey Tsosie, Naomi Barnett, Dustin Slewitzke, Nicole Slewitzke, Thomas Belknap, Nyssa Slewitzke, Jesse Slewitzke, Levi Slewitzke, Brandon Tsosie, Mariah Williams and Halley Tsosie. There are 10 Great-grandchildren: Abigail Belknap, Cash Barnett, Alisabeth Brooke, Owen Barnett, Charlotte Belknap, Jackson Barnett, Dominick Slewitzke, Alaya Tsosie, Clary Slewitzke and Zoey Slewitzke.
