Beulah Jean Curtis
3/27/37-11/19/23
Jean Curtis (86) of Lakewood, Colorado lost her 50-year battle with Muscular Dystrophy. She passed away peacefully at Lutheran Collier Hospice on November 19, 2023.
Born Beulah Jean Martin in Peoria, Illinois on March 27, 1937. She moved around a lot with her Mother and Grandmother, eventually ending up in Colorado. She graduated from Denver South High School in 1956.
Jean met the love of her life, Stan Curtis, at a dance hall. They were married on December 13, 1958.
She had many jobs. She worked for Samsonite, Shaklee and was a Teacher's Aid for Jefferson County Schools over the years. She then became Stan's bookkeeper for his company Curtis Fluid Controls, Inc. She was a loving housewife, mother of two daughters and two granddaughters.
She was very creative. Her hobbies included dancing, listening to music, painting, crocheting, gardening and canning. She was a passionate fan of the Colorado Rockies and the Denver Broncos. She and Stan enjoyed going to Las Vegas and Black Hawk and going camping and spending time with the family at the cabin they built. Most of all, family was everything to her. She had a big, pure heart and was always there to help and support them. She made holidays and birthdays special for everyone and was a wonderful cook.
Jean is survived in death by her husband, Isidore "Izzy" Stanley Curtis; two daughters Vicki Harper, Pam (Doug) Hamilton; two granddaughters Tiffany (Ariel) Baker (and soon to arrive great-grandson); Melissa (Aaron) Steiner; brother Steve Martin; as well as many dear family and friends.
Jean is proceeded in death by her mother, Beulah Victoria Leonard; father Harry Martin; brothers David Martin, Bernard Martin; son-in-law Perry Harper.
Services officiated by Chaplain Winn O. Allison on Monday, December 4, 2023 at 11:30 a.m. at Horan & McConaty, 3101 S. Wadsworth Boulevard, Lakewood, CO 80227, followed by a reception. Interment at Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary & Cemetery, 7777 West 29th Avenue, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033 at 2:30.
Donations can be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
