Beverly Jean Stewart

Beverly Jean Stewart, passed away on June 14, 2020 after a brief illness at the age of 89½ years young. Beverly was preceded in death by her husband, Galen E. Stewart, her parents, Charles Lewis and Margaret Alice Demoney, siblings, Margaret (Betty) Wolfe, Mae Demoney, Annlea Greening, Freida Clossen, Verna Sherwood, and Charles (Chuck) Demoney, II.

Beverly is survived her sister Carolyn (Connie) Slaven, her children, Marla Cady, Kay Baker, Diane (Jack) Franks, Michael (Tamara) Jennings; grandchildren, Daryle (Joanne) Fore, Phillip (Robyn) Cody, Kylie Baker, Audrey Cody, Tanner Cady (Anette); great grandchildren, Cameron Cody, Knox Cody, new Baby Girl Cody who is on the way, Jake Knudson, Taylor Cody, Zachary Jennings, Mellissa Jennings, Desiree Jennings, Jordyn Fore, Caiden Fore, plus many nieces and nephews. Fondly known as MeMaw, Granna, and Aunt Bevvy, Beverly treasured all her family.

While Beverly lived in several other states growing up, she always considered Colorado her home, and herself a life-long Colorado native. Born in Bennett, Colorado, the family of 10 moved to Fairplay, Colorado in the mid-1930's where Beverly recalled helping her mother often. At the age of 8 she would be sent on Bess the horse, with a list pinned to her shirt to the general store to get supplies for the café the family owned. The storekeeper would take that list, fill the order, and put her with the supplies back on Bess then tell the horse ""Bess, go home"" and Bess would trot right back to the café.

Beverly was an active member of the Optimist Club at Windsor Gardens where she and Galen made a home, for more than 20 years, and was an avid lover of music. One of her favorite activities was going to Dutch Hops, all over Colorado on weekends with Galen, her sister & brother-in-law, and Freida & Bud Clossen. She loved to dance the Dutch Hop & Polkas & when she danced it always looked like her feet were on wings. If she couldn't find a dance partner, she would dance by herself. Her enthusiasm for Polka and all music ran deep. Beverly was always tapping her feet to the music no matter where she was.

Beverly and Galen, her sweetheart, would travel to Missouri every spring for 3 weeks to visit Galen's family- driving the route even at 80 years of age, so they could enjoy the beautiful scenery and wonders along the way. They also enjoyed trips to Las Vegas, and Blackhawk with Beverly always coming home with winnings won from playing the nickel and dollar slots. She was truly one lucky lady. Beverly's family was the joy of her life, and she could talk your ear off about all the accomplishments of her family members with great pride.

Beverly moved to Morning Star at Jordan in 2017 where she settled in easily, soon to be fondly referred to as the Mayor, and their “Official Welcoming Committee of One”, greeting new residents to the Morning Star at Jordan community helping new residents settle in, make new friends and feel like they were at home. Never one to sit still long, Beverly could always be found visiting with her neighbors, playing nickel bingo, joining in the Sing-A-Longs, and was also on their Residents' Council.

Quite the social butterfly, Beverly made an indelible, loving and lasting impression on all who met her for she never knew a stranger. The world was a truly a better place for having had Beverly in it, and she will be greatly missed, by her family and friends.
