Bill L. Wilson

November 7, 1940 — September 27, 2017

Bill L. Wilson went to heaven to be with His Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at St. Joseph Hospital in Denver, CO. He leaves his wife, Bo Hansen Wilson, two sisters, Judy Wilson Holt from Bear Lake, Michigan and Peggy Turner of Searcy, Arkansas, his daughter Mandy Wilson-Pogue and husband Dan Pogue from St. Louis, MO, his son, Ty Wilson and wife Kaylyn from Lakewood, Colorado. Bill was a treasured and respected bonus dad to Bo’s children, Shauna Porricelli and Eric Neal. Bill loved his eleven grandchildren and his nieces and nephew. Bill was born on November 7, 1940 in Batesville, Arkansas to Voughn Oren and Donna Miller Wilson (Bracy). Growing up on a farm and a ranch in the small community of Bethesda, Arkansas, Pilgrim's Rest Baptist Church was foundational to Bill's spiritual roots where he accepted the Lord and was baptized at age eight. Bill attended school in a small, four-room country school in Bethesda where after school he helped his father ""keep the bees"" and later became a beekeeper like his dad. In high school, Bill enjoyed playing basketball. While at the University of Arkansas, where Bill graduated with a degree in Animal Husbandry, he was a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity. He served as president of that fraternity his senior year and also received the outstanding agriculture award. Bill married Judith Presley Wilson in 1965. Mandy was born in 1967 in Batesville, AR and Ty joined their family in 1970 in Poteau, OK. It was in Poteau that Bill became the livestock manager for the Kerr Foundation. During this time, he served in the Army Reserve, fulfilling the call to active service at Fort Riley in Junction City, Kansas. Bill also managed a large cattle operation at the Choctaw Ranch in Hugo, Oklahoma. In 1973, he became a loan officer and Vice-President with First American Bank in Purcell, Oklahoma. He continued in the banking business until 1995, when he partnered alongside his son, Ty, to open Insight Financial Group, a commodity brokerage business located in Denver, Colorado. In 1999, he met Bo Hansen, his best friend and the love of his life, with whom he has enjoyed sharing eighteen wonderful years. Bill lived a life of serving and reaching out to others. For many years, he served in Stephen’s Ministry visiting with hurting members of his church congregation. Bill loved to work. He loved his business. He loved his customers and worked every day up to that day in August when he got sick. Most importantly, Bill deeply loved his family and always enjoyed spending time with them. He was a loyal friend to many. We will miss him greatly. In lieu of flowers, donations are appeciated in Bill's memory to The American Lung Association, www.lung.org; Colorado Community Church, www.coloradocommunity.org, Or The National Cattlemen’s Foundation www.nationalcattlemensfoundation.org.
