Blossom Marguerite Wennberg

February 6, 1920 — January 2, 2010

Blossom Marguerite Wennberg, 89, passed away January 2, 2010, at the Villas at Sunny Acres in Thornton, Colorado. She was born February 6, 1920 in Omaha, Nebraska, to George R. Henning and Marguerite Lay Henning. The family moved to Thermopolis, Wyoming, and then to Louisville, Colorado, where, from the age of 13, Blossom helped her father in the Henning Mortuary business. Blossom attended elementary school in Louisville and graduated from Louisville High School in l937. She attended Colorado Women's College where she majored in piano. Blossom was married to her first husband, Bertram Arnison, in 1938. They had a daughter Melody. She married Edwin Gustaf Wennberg on February 16, 1950, and they had a son Andrew. They moved to Northglenn, CO in 1960. In 2003, when Edwin was suffering from Parkinson's disease, they moved into the Villas at Sunny Acres in Thornton, CO. During her working life, Blossom was employed by Our Chapel of Memories Mortuary and Moore Mortuary. She also was school secretary of Northglenn Junior High School for a time. Blossom was a professional pianist/organist and played for various churches and mortuaries in the area. For several years, she was the pianist for the Rotary Club in Northglenn. Blossom was active in the Alpha Lambda Masters chapter of Beta Sigma Phi sorority and Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and Holy Cross Catholic Church. She and Edwin were avid travelers, taking trips to Hawaii, the Bahamas, Mexico and Central America. She enjoyed playing bridge, reading, cheering on the Broncos, and playing piano and organ for family and friends. She adored spending time with her children and grandchildren and playing with the dachshunds that were the family pets. In the last few years, she participated in activities at Sunny Acres, especially Bible studies and BINGO. Blossom is survived by her husband Edwin of Thornton, CO; son, Andrew H. Wennberg, Centennial, CO; daughter, Melody (husband, Donald) Newman, Imperial, NE; grandchildren: Michelle A. (Scott) Stoops, Mead, CO; Erin Wennberg, Parker, CO; Jennifer (Joel) Morgan, Richmond, VA.; Nicholas (Kaila) Newman, Norfolk, NE.; six great-grandchildren; her sister, Welcome (Ralph) Miller, Westminster, CO; her sister-in-law, Esther Arnison; nieces, nephews and many friends.
