Bob Dean Schliem, age 94, died peacefully Tuesday, September 29th, 2020. He was preceded in death by his cherished wife Florence J. Schliem and loving daughter, Debra A. Cameron. He is survived by his daughters, Catherine A. Schliem and Patricia A. Burger, and his grandchildren David M. Burger, Margaret A. Townsend, and Heather C. Martz, along with their partners and children.
Bob was born August 15,1926 in Reynolds, Nebraska to Henry Schliem and Vera Savage. He moved to Denver, Colorado after serving in Japan during WWII, then studied Mechanical Engineering at University of Denver and built a life and home with Florence. They raised their three daughters and enjoyed with them model airplane competitions. He also enjoyed racing his 1940 Ford custom built pickup with his drag racing group, The Stripers, and served on the board of the Denver Timing Association. His creative and technical mind served him well during his career as Director of Engineering at Coors in Golden, Colorado and later at Fay Engineering.
Bob faced life’s challenges and tragedies with integrity, compassion, and unwavering resolve. He modeled a do-it-yourself determination in all areas, exemplified by his innovative architectural design and construction of the Lakewood home that he and Florence lived in for the past 51 years. For decades this home, overlooking Jefferson County’s front range, served as a warm and welcoming gathering place for his family and friends. Bob cared for those in his life unconditionally and his strength and integrity will be greatly missed by those that love him.
