Our world unfortunately lost a pillar of love and joy when Bob Thumel died far too soon on June 30, 2021, in Denver, Colorado at the age of 44. Bob is survived by his wife Meagan, his son Beau, his parents, Bill and Marty, stepmother Kim, and sister Kelly.
Born on August 30, 1976 in Virginia Beach, Virginia, Bob moved west and ultimately graduated from the University of Denver. He made his deep love for Meagan Oberle official with their marriage in 2008, and they welcomed their cherished son, Beau, in 2011. Bob shared his amazing gifts early on mentoring youth in Outward Bound, while his love of living fast and free carried him into the worlds of biking and autos, where he regularly made his dream of racing cars a reality and helped to build and manage luxury car dealerships for Mike Ward.
Bob’s passion shone through as an adoring husband, a father who loved his son more than anything, generous family member, and unparalleled friend with a presence that elevated every moment he shared, and the selflessness to lend a helping hand anytime, anywhere. His adventurous, boundary-pushing, mischief-making, fun-seeking soul was and eternally will be driven to brighten every situation and trigger deeper laughs than believed imaginable. Bob will always be in and with every one of us lucky enough to be touched by him.
A celebration of Bob’s life is scheduled for July 12, 2021, first with a memorial at 3:00 pm at the Denver Botanic Gardens Chatfield Farms (Deer Creek Stables at Chatfield Farms, 8500 West Deer Creek Canyon Road, Littleton, CO 80128), followed by a reception at 6:00 pm at the Sundial House (Backcountry Neighborhood, Sundial House, 10989 Sundial Rim Road, Highlands Ranch, Colorado 80126). All are welcome to attend and celebrate Bob's life. Condolences can be sent to https://www. caringbridge.org/visit/bobthumel2/journal .
