Bobbi June King

May 11, 1931 — October 19, 2012

Bobbi June King was born Barbetta June King, May 11, 1931 in Weadleytown, Pennsylvania to Marion Beatrice Hampton King and Chester Lamborn King and died on October 19, 2012 in Lakewood, Colorado from a prolonged illness. Bobbi grew up in the Radnor/King of Prussia, Pennsylvania area. She is survived by siblings Betty Ashley, Beatrice ""Bea"" Dirlam, Chester ""Sonny"" King, Jr., Katherine ""Kay"" Fox and Harold ""Bud"" King. Bobbi married Donald Friedkin on April 7, 1951. She is survived by their children Donna Larkin, William (""Bill"") Friedkin (and wife Laura), Diane Penick (and husband Tim) and Scott Friedkin. (Bobbi and Don were later divorced, and a short time thereafter she legally changed her name to Bobbi King.) Unfortunately their youngest child, Doreen (""Dee"") Friedkin (who is survived by partner Debra Dart) predeceased Bobbi on August 13, 2012. Bobbi also leaves behind grandchildren Laura Cunningham, Erica Goldberg, Katherine Schnepple, Jeremy Miksza, Nathan Friedkin, Kimberly Friedkin and Tiana Penick as well as step-grandchildren Clifford Penick, Marc Penick, Steven Penick, Amy Jay and Adam Dart. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren Julius, Theodore and Mirabel Goldberg, Caitlin and Samantha Cunningham, Jaelyn Miksza and step-great grandchildren MaKenzie and Peyton Penick, James Jay, Celia Lamkin and Wyatt Penick, and Cloe Dart. There are two things Bobbi felt strongly about (besides her family) – her religion and her art. She loved the Lord with all her heart and the family has no doubt she is dancing in heaven with Jesus and her daughter Dee. She loved doing artwork and when she was really struggling with the symptoms of her illness that was the one thing that could distract her. The family is fortunate to have plenty of her artwork to remember her by. A memorial service is being held on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Family In Christ Church, 11355 Sheridan Boulevard Westminster, CO 80020. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers that family is requesting that you make a donation to The Alzheimer's Association in her memory at Alzheimer's Association of Colorado, 455 Sherman Street, Suite 500, Denver, CO 80203, or www.alz.org. Please share your memories of Bobbi and condolences with her family by signing the guestbook below.
