Bobbie Dell Adamson (91), a retired Uranium Geologist, died peacefully with loved ones at his bedside on the evening of July 7 th , 2020 in Lakewood, Colorado, where he has lived since 1970.
Bobbie was born the youngest of 8 children to Ephraim and Zina Eliza (Woodland) Adamson in Park City, Utah on November 22, 1928. Born and raised in Park City, Utah, Bobbie was able to embrace his love of the outdoors through hunting, fishing, skiing, and all manner of neighborhood games. During his years at Park City High School he played on the basketball team, and also played the flute. He earned several nicknames including "Gandhi" and "Bulldogs and Brains". He lovingly recalled being called Gandhi due to his small size, and Bulldog referred to the popular hairstyle he had when he was young, and brains goes without explanation. Bobbie is survived by his four children, Karen Lee Kestrel, Kent (Cheryl) Adamson, Nathan Brokenleg, and Kirke (Heather) Adamson, and was blessed with 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, with whom he could not spend enough time. He is preceded in death by each of his siblings and his loving wife, Renee Wilde Adamson (July 2006).
Bobbie graduated with his BS and MS in geology from Utah State University, where he played basketball. He then served in the U.S. Army as a 1 st Lieutenant in the Korean Conflict. Upon his return he married Renee in 1955 in Park City, Utah commencing his career as a geologist with stops in Utah, Wyoming, and Colorado.
Best known for his deep humility and kindness (hearing this would drive him crazy), Bobbie never raised his voice in anger. A life-long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Bobbie served in a variety of volunteer positions, but most loved his 20+ years serving in the Denver Temple. Additionally, he was an original member (tenor) of the Colorado Mormon Chorale with which he performed throughout the country for 20+ years.
Considering the current health crisis, a private ceremony will be held at Ft. Logan Cemetery in Denver, Colorado on Tuesday, July 14, 2020.
