Bobby ""The Mayor"" Fernandez

February 22, 1946 — November 19, 2017

Bobby ""The Mayor"" Fernandez, 71, of Commerce City, Colorado, passed away November 19, 2017. Dad was born in Brighton Colorado, and grew up in Derby, which later became Commerce City. He attended school there, and graduated from Adams City in 1964. Bobby was a supervisor for Fry Roofing, which later became Owens Corning, where he retired from. After retiring from Owens Corning, he became a driver for RTD, and retired from there as well. In his younger days, Bob was very active, playing baseball, fast-pitch softball and eventually slow pitch softball. He was also on several pool leagues. His passion was his family, and sports. He loved when family would visit, and looked forward to them special moments. He would watch sports on TV, everything from college to professional. His biggest local sport to watch was the Colorado Rockies, and in football, he was, and will always be a RAIDER. He is survived by his wife, Linda; sons, Basilio (Jovene) Fernandez, Robert-John (Tina) Fernandez, Aaron (Danielle) Fernandez and Eloy Chaparo; grandchildren, Basilio Jr. (Jeanina), Ramon, Cisco, Tito, Natalie, Cianna, Leticia, Micah, Destiny, Victorrie, Memorrie and Caine; great grandchildren, Xavier, Santanna, Gia and Basilio III; siblings, Esther (Jimmy Vigil), Stella Milan, Artie (Christy) Fernandez and T. Fernandez; and sisters in law, Tree Rael and Gloria Velasquez. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Esli Fernandez, Jr., Joey Fernandez, Delia Fernandez; brother and sister in law, Rudy Archuleta and Molly Valdez; his Uncle John; and Godfather, Al Davis. Viewing will begin on Wednesday, November 29th, 2017 at 6:00 PM, followed by Recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 PM; Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, November 30th, 2017, beginning at 12:00 PM all at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 9998 Grant Street, in Thornton, Colorado 80229. Interment with Military Honors will follow at 2:30 PM, at Fort Logan National Cemetery - Area ""B,"" 3698 South Sheridan Boulevard, in Denver, Colorado 80235.
