Bonnie Elizabeth Holman, 87, of Denver, Colorado, passed away peacefully June 15, 2021. She was born January 19, 1934, in Carlsbad, New Mexico to Hansel William and Mary Elizabeth Whitead Shepard.
After High School, Bonnie attended Adams State College in Alamosa, Colorado. While attending Adams State, she met the love of her life, William Bruce Holman. Bonnie and Bruce were married December 19, 1954, in Alamosa.
Following their relocation to Denver, Colorado, Bonnie attended Metropolitan State University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science. With Bonnie’s love of children, she had the perfect career as an Early Childhood Education Teacher for many years with Headstart and with Denver Public Schools. She loved the children so much that her love extended to their families, whom she served with love, care, and compassion, often providing clothing and food and other necessities.
Bonnie and Bruce were blessed with three children, Richard, Sandra, and Robert, whom they loved dearly. Bonnie loved her role as a grandmother and adored her grand and great-grandchildren. In addition to her family, she enjoyed genealogy (family history) and gardening. Her garden of roses was her favorite.
Bonnie is survived by her beloved husband of 68 years, William “Bruce” Holman; children: Richard “Rick” (Elke) Holman and Robert “Bob” (Chris) Holman; grandchildren: Sondra, Lisa, Jennifer, Jessica, Ute and Farah; great-grandchildren: Faith, Lila and Bailey; and brother, William “Billy” (Diane) Shepard. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sandra Leigh Taylor.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Wednesday June 23rd at Horan & McConaty, 3101 S. Wadsworth Blvd., Lakewood, CO 80227. The viewing will be held at the Funeral Home on Wednesday from 12Noon until the service begins at 1:00pm.
Burial will be at 9:30am, on Tuesday July 6, 2021, at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 3698 S. Sheridan Blvd., Denver, CO on. Please gather at staging area “B” by 9:20am.
