Bonnie Wing

July 21, 1941 — December 7, 2022

Westminster, Colorado

Bonnie Lee Wing, 81, died at her home in Westminster, Colorado on December 7, 2022. Bonnie’s wife, Sue Bautsch, her daughter, Robin Crawford, and her cousins Roberta Henderson and Ashley Hill were with her during her passing.

Bonnie was born in Denver, Colorado on July 21, 1941. For much of her childhood, she lived with her father, Harry Shipman, and paternal grandmother and grandfather, Laura, and Monerable “Doc” Shipman. The Shipman family cared for Bonnie and her sister Claudia. Arloa Bingham (née Shipman), Bonnie’s aunt, was close with Bonnie throughout childhood and adulthood. The women in the Shipman family used nicknames given to them by Bonnie, Laura went by Granner (Bonnie couldn't say grandma) and Arloa went by Tillie. These nicknames marked a strong connection and fierce matriarchal spirit, something Bonnie maintained throughout her life and instilled in her family.

Bonnie graduated from Arvada High School and earned a cosmetology license which she proudly maintained until her death. Bonnie had many careers: a dispatcher in the automotive industry at Automotive Avenues, a florist for Lehrer’s Flowers where she met her wife Sue in 1989, and a cosmetologist. She thrived in each of these positions (and too many more to count!), bringing her vibrant personality and contagious smile to everyone she met. She was also a committed animal lover who cared for many pets - cats, dogs, and raccoons!

Bonnie is survived by her wife Susan Bautsch, her son Kip Morgan (b. 1959) and her daughter Robin Crawford (b. 1963), her two grandchildren Nicole Motil and Rachel White, and her great-grandchildren Ryder, Barrett, and Bodie White and Khloe and Paxton Motil, and her cousins Roberta Henderson (née Bingham) and Ashley Hill. She has an enormous, loving extended family on her wife’s side with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and even a few great-great-nieces and nephews.
Everyone who met Bonnie knew she was a force to be reckoned with - she was intentional, kind, and fiercely loving. This was obvious by the number of people who reached out and visited her in her last days. She is missed but her presence in our lives is eternal.
