After high school, he studied business and horticulture at the University of Missouri. Boyd was the national sales manager for Nixdorf Lloyd before moving to Denver, where he started his own company, Blackwell & Associates, in 1977. After working for Boyd for 10 years, Wayne Shreves bought the company, and Boyd retired in 1998. His success has been attributed to his exceptional work ethic.
Boyd is survived by his wife of 38 years, Barbara; his daughters, Pam Light and Lisa Schwartz (husband, Mitch); his stepdaughter, Beth Pastore; his stepsons, Wayne Shreves (wife, Becky) and Bob Shreves; his granddaughters, Jenna Marshall (husband, John) and Haley Shreves; his grandsons, David Schwartz (wife, Mallory), Danny Steinbecker (wife, Olga), Griffin Shreves, and Cooper Shreves; and his great-grandchildren, Max, Nora, Emory, and Dominic.
Boyd was a member of Light of the World Catholic Church in Littleton, Colorado. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Minola Blackwell, and by Roseann Lee (1932–2020), the devoted mother of his children, Pam and Lisa. Roseann is remembered as a loving and generous mother, grandmother (“Ro Ro”), and great-grandmother.
Boyd was an avid golfer throughout his life and joined Pinehurst Country Club in 1982, where he enjoyed many years of golfing with friends and family. In 1994, he and a few good friends took the trip of a lifetime to Scotland to play on some of the world's most famous courses. He loved traveling to many destinations, including Vail, Las Vegas, Hawaii, Mexico, and our great national parks.
He had many hobbies, including golf, hiking, biking, playing pool, and caring for his saltwater and freshwater fish tanks. He was also a passionate sports fan, primarily cheering for the Denver Broncos, Colorado Rockies, and St. Louis Cardinals. His favorite band of all time was The Eagles and he loved listening to their music or watching their live concerts on dvd.
Boyd will be remembered as a loving and fun husband, father, and grandfather (“PawPaw Boyd”). He will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
His celebration of life will be private for friends and family, with details to be shared at a later date.
