Brandt Arthur Erickson, age 78, of Aurora, CO passed away in his home on Thursday, March 10, 2022.
Born in Red Wing, Minnesota, he was a graduate of South High School in Minneapolis and was a veteran who served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War aboard the aircraft carrier; USS Bennington. In civilian life, while employed with the Control Data Corporation, Brandt went on to serve our country as a computer engineer working at Los Alamos National Laboratory, New Mexico; Kwajalein Missile Range, Marshall Islands; and Buckley Airforce Base, Colorado.
Brandt was active in numerous veterans organizations including The American Legion Post One, Son’s of The American Legion Squadron One, and 40 & 8 Voyager 97. Brandt valued his interaction with other veterans and held many offices and positions at the Post, District, Department and National levels including serving as Post One Adjutant for five years.
Brandt enjoyed traveling, as long as he could drive, to visit family and friends. Those who knew Brandt will always remember his quick wit and mischievous smile. He found great joy in joking and teasing those he loved. He was a lifelong student of history, being most interested in World War II and U.S. Presidents. Brandt had a soft heart and compassion for the collective human experience. He will very much be missed by all who loved him.
Brandt is preceded in death by his parents Joyce (Vann) and Lee Erickson; sisters Julie Perkins and Hope Erickson. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Diane (Eiynck) Erickson; children, Tanya Bouthillier, and her husband Austin of Parker, CO; Robert Neumann, and his wife Veronica Biamonte of Denver, CO; and Dee Dee Fisher and her husband Aaron of Denver, CO; grandchildren, Chloe Bouthillier, of Richmond, VA; Josephine Bouthillier of Parker, CO; and Jonathan Neumann of Denver, CO.
A service with Military Honors will be held at 9:30am, March 22nd at Ft. Logan National Cemetery, Denver, Co. Please meet at Staging Area B at 9:15am. Following the service, relatives and friends are welcome to join in a celebration of life at 11:00am at The American Legion, Post One, 5400 East Yale Avenue, Denver, CO 80222.
