Born on June 30, 1952 in Houston, Texas, the second of seven, Brenda quickly learned to lead by example. From an early age she adopted the art of celebrating life and seizing every opportunity. Her love and desire to serve God and for people would carry her far. After graduating from New Caney High School, she attended Southwestern Bible College in Waxahachie, Texas where she met Terry Hilgers, the love of her life. They were married in Porter, Texas on August 24, 1973 and together began a 44 year journey of serving in ministry in Texas, South Carolina, Virginia, and Colorado. She was a deeply devoted wife, mother and grandmother (known as Nana). She lavished her love on her family in every way possible, yet, her heart was big enough to include so many others. She was a mentor for young women and an example of godliness to all who knew her. Never seeking the stage or to be the center of attention she served us, prayed for us, taught us and blessed us in the most thoughtful and practical ways. She will be best remembered for her unwavering love for God, her genuine love for people, her sacrificial giving and the gift of hospitality. Please share memories of Brenda and condolences with her family by signing the guestbook below. Her legacy of faith in God and the desire to honor Him now lies deeply in her children and grandchildren and in those who have had the privilege of walking through this life with her. Until we meet again we honor her by serving, loving and giving as she did.
