Brett Edward Roper

June 27, 1953 — December 1, 2018

Our hearts are broken as we share the news that Brett Edward Roper, 65, of Aurora, Colorado, our beloved husband, father and grandfather died suddenly December 1, 2018. He was born June 27, 1953 in Shattuck, Oklahoma and adopted by Ed and Sammy Lou Heaton Roper.

Brett grew up around the Clear Lake area in Texas and graduated from Clear Creek High School in 1971. He attended Texas A&M University and was a member of the Aggie ROTC Corp.

Brett later moved to The Woodlands, TX where he met the love of his life, Diane, whom he married on July 4, 1984. He chose that date in order to remember his anniversary and to always have fireworks on their special day.

Brett had many careers throughout his life, each one being a stepping stone to the other. He began his career by doing oil field drafting and was awarded several patents for offshore designs. Brett took a part-time job as a gymnastics coach working his way into a full-time head coach position where he was well loved by students and staff alike. He was promoted into Athletic Club management by being Athletic Director in Corpus Christi, TX, and later a General Manager for clubs in Aurora, CO and Knoxville, TN. While in Knoxville, Brett transitioned into commercial real-estate development bringing him back to Denver, Colorado. Brett spent many years as a consultant and advisor for various companies culminating in the co-founding of Medicine Man Technologies in 2014.

Brett was an avid reader of science fiction and was planning to publish his own story soon. He loved music and could play the piano and organ. During his college years, he was the keyboardist of a band that toured and played in Texas and Louisiana.

Brett is survived by his wife of 35 years, Diane; daughter, Delynn Allyn and her husband Joe; son, Jay Tippie and his wife Tricia; 6 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and his nieces and nephews, Scott Harvill, Megan Chichester, Marc Harvill, Brehan Harvill, Brett Clark and their families. Brett was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Sammy Lou Heaton Roper, his sister, Ann Roper Harvill and his birth father.

Brett was able to meet his birth mother, a half-brother and half-sister, two half-brothers and three-half sisters by his birth father.

Brett had a generous spirit, helping others whenever and wherever he could. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the charity of your choice in his name.

A celebration of Brett's life will be held at 12 Noon, on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at the Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 11150 E. Dartmouth Ave., Aurora, CO 80014.
