Brian was born September 9, 1980 in Edison, New Jersey. He was named after his great-grandfather, Carl Edward Kallander. Brianâs nickname was Dynamite as he came very quickly into this world.
Growing up, Brian was very active in baseball, football, and basketball. He loved outdoor activities such as swimming, camping, hiking, and fishing. Brian loved to throw rocks and had great accuracy. He was very athletic and was a star baseball pitcher until he broke his arm! He was a four-year Varsity wrestler as well. During the summer months, he worked as a life guard at the Lakewood Morse Park pool where he rescued multiple children.
With his parents encouragement, Brian joined the Young Marines and greatly excelled. He received the national award âthe Young Marine of the Yearâ in 1999. He also participated in the inauguration parade for President Clinton and witnessed the presidential Oath of Office in 1997. In his senior year, he received the ABC Channel 7 â7 Everyday Hero Awardâ for his work with the Young Marines and community service. After high school, he joined the United States Marine Corps. Brian loved his country and proudly served four years. He rose to the rank of Lance Corporal and was assigned to an amphibious assault vehicle. His unit participated in the Iraq War in 2003 with great honor.
After leaving the Marines, Brian worked as a fire fighter, security guard and lead solar installer.
The love of Brianâs life were his two children. He was such a wonderful father. He enjoyed playing guitar, singing karaoke, bow hunting, scuba diving, camping, and fishing.
Brian was preceded in death by his grandparents, Keith & Lois Kallander; and his brother Benjamin Kallander.
He is survived by his children, Skyler and Brady; his grandparents, Leo & Lois Schmid; parents, Kevin & Vicki Kallander; siblings, Michael (Karin) Kallander, Angela (Scott Foot) Kallander, Timothy (Jillian) Kallander, Andrew Kallander; nieces and nephews, Matthew, Titus, Luke, Silas, Kierah, Jayden, Brianna, Dominic, Alexandra, Micah, Hailey, and Caleb; Brianâs former wife, Jennette Hewen Kallander, and many extended family members.
