Brian Sperl Lucas

May 8, 1971 — August 8, 2005

Our beloved son was born in Concord, MA on May 8, 1971. His short life ended tragically in an auto accident in Denver on August 8, 2005 at the age of 34. Brian grew up in Dunwoody, GA where he graduated from Dunwoody High School in 1990. He then moved to Denver, CO where he graduated with a Business Degree from Denver Metropolitan State College in 1996. He enjoyed a successful career with IBM and Avanade in a variety of roles including system planner, architect, and project leader. He made Denver his home with his 2 Great Danes, Bertha and Simon. He loved to play volleyball, take his Jeep 4 Wheeling, and go to the Avalanche games, mountain biking and skiing. He was a passionate man with a giving heart and a big smile who worked hard, loved hard and played hard. He would never think twice about going the extra mile to help out a friend or family member in need. He leaves behind a hole in the hearts of many friends and family including: His parents, James and Lois Lucas of Dunwoody, GA; his eldest brother Michael of New City, NY and sister-in-law Karen along with his nieces, Megan and Kelly and nephew Sam; his other older brother Don of Suwanee, GA and his sister-in-law Katie along with nephew Joey and Goddaughter and niece Elizabeth. We will hold a viewing and visitation at Horan & McConaty in Denver on August 11, 2005 at 5:00 pm. A Memorial service will follow on August 12, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. with a reception to follow at Brian's house located at 2055 Birch St. Denver, CO. In addition, there will be Memorial service in Dunwoody, GA on August 19, 2005 at All Saints Catholic Church followed by a reception. He will be laid to rest at Arlington Memorial Park in Sandy Springs. God rest your soul, Brian. We will always love you. ******************************************************************** DO not stand at my grave and weep; I am not there. I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow; I am the diamond glints on the snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain; I am the gentle autumn's rain. WHEN you awaken in the morning's hush, I am the swift uplifting rush - of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft star that shines at night. DO not stand at my grave and cry, I am not there; I did not die. ******************************************************************** SAFELY HOME I am home in Heaven, dear ones; Oh, so happy and so bright! There is perfect joy and beauty In this everlasting light. All the pain and grief is over, Every restless tossing passed; I am now at peace forever, Safely home in Heaven at last. Did you wonder I so calmly Trod the valley of the shade? Oh, but Jesus' love illumined Every dark and fearful glade. And He came Himself to meet me In that way so hard to tread; And with Jesus' arm to lean on, Could I have one doubt or dread? Then you must not grieve so sorely, For I love you dearly still: Try to look beyond earth's shadows, Pray to trust our Father's Will. There is work still waiting for you, So you must not idly stand; Do it now, while life remaineth - You shall rest in God's own Land. When that work is all completed, He will gently call you Home; Oh, the rapture of that meeting, Oh, the joy to see you come!
