Brian T. Schulz, Sr.

April 17, 1941 — December 22, 2011

Brian Thomas ""BT"" Schulz (1941 – 2011) Brian Thomas Schulz (70) of Centennial, Colorado passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on December 22, 2011 at the Littleton Adventist Hospital after losing his battle with cancer. A Memorial Service was held on Monday, December 26, 2011 at Horan & McConaty Funeral Home in Centennial. A private Military Burial with Honors was held for the family at Fort Logan National Cemetery on Thursday, December 29, 2011. Per his wishes, he was cremated. BT was born in Casper, Wyoming to Edith Mae and Albert Urbin Schulz on April 17, 1941. After losing his own father and grandfather at the age of 1 ½ , BT spent his first nine years living with his mother and grandmother and enjoyed playing with his friends at the local river. At age 10, they moved to Fontana, California where he lived until he met the love of his life, Mary Ann Parenteau. His happiest years began when he married Mary Ann on August 4, 1962 and blossomed further when he became a proud father. He believed in giving his children a better life than he had and took his family on many vacations to historical places (Mt. Rushmore, Yellow Stone, Grand Canyon, Devils Canyon and many others). He also enjoyed camping, fishing and playing games with his family. BT joined the U.S. Navy on May 13, 1959, as an Aviation Electrician and served three years before being honorably discharged in 1962. This led him into his career with Pacific Bell. In 1971, he transferred to Mountain Bell in Cheyenne, WY and transferred again to Denver, CO in 1982 where he ultimately retired in 1989 as a Line Engineering Manager. After finding he wasn't ready to retire, he began a 15-year career with Cherry Creek School District as a special needs bus driver. The kids loved him and he loved them. He officially retired from the workforce in 2004. BT enjoyed his retirement years by traveling with his wife, Mary Ann, and playing Pinochle, Hearts, Spades and Texas Hold'em with his friends and family. He was especially fond of taking Mary Ann to Central City and Blackhawk to play the table games as well as spending quality time at home with his children & grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann, his children, Robin Schulz, Veronica ""Roni"" Schulz, Bruce Schulz (Christina), Brian Schulz Jr. (Mary) and five grandchildren, Amanda, Amie, Jeff, Kyle and Sophia. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. The family wants to express their appreciation for the wonderful care and concern provided by the staff at Kaiser Oncology as well as all the support from friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society. A Funeral Service will be held Monday, December 26, 2011, 10:00 A.M., at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 5303 East County Line Road (one block to the west of South Holly Street), in Centennial, Colorado. A private Committal Service will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery, in Denver, Colorado at a later date. Please share your memories of Brian and condolences with his family by signing the guestbook.
