Bruce A. Behringer

Bruce A. Behringer, 57, passed away May 31, 2014. He was born June 14, 1956 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Elizabeth and Edward Behringer. Bruce is survived by his loving wife, Shirlee; daughters, Laura and Julia; son, Robert (Jessica); two grandsons, Nathanial and Harry Mellon, and a granddaughter, Katie Celest, all from Colorado. He is also survived by his brother, Richard (Donna) from Langhorne, Pennsylvania and a sister, Cindy from Coon Rapids, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by a son, Richard Behringer and a brother, Edward Behringer. Bruce proudly joined the United States Air Force on July 30, 1975. The majority of his career was spent at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida. He retired MSGT, Security Forces on November 30, 1997. Bruce served his country with the utmost respect and gained numerous lifelong friends while serving. In September, 1997 the family moved from Florida to Colorado. In February of 1999 Bruce continued his career by accepting a gratifying position with the Aurora Police Department. He served as a Senior Detention Officer and Field Training Officer. Bruce soon discovered a remarkable rapport with the department. He found yet another ""family"" to bond with. He truly enjoyed his work and was settled in for the long haul to retirement. Bruce and Shirlee married on July 9, 1983 and had an unbelievable bond with their children and grandchildren. Bruce was an outstanding father and a doting grandfather, never missing grandson Nate's football games. He loved to travel with the family, most recently to Orlando and had planned a trip to Yellowstone this summer. He enjoyed sporting events, always cheering for the Colorado Rockies, the Colorado Avalanche, the Minnesota Vikings and Denver Broncos. Bruce enjoyed riding motorcycles with the kids and loved listening to the Moody Blues. Bruce's sudden passing is a shock to all who knew him. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed. A visitation will be held on Monday, June 9, 2014, from 6:00-8:00pm, at Horan & McConaty, 11150 E. Dartmouth Avenue (At Parker Road), Aurora, CO. 80014 A Funeral service for Bruce will be held on Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at 11:00 am, at Horan & McConaty, 11150 E. Dartmouth (At Parker Road), Aurora, CO. 80014. Burial will be at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 3698 South Sheridan Blvd, Denver, on Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at 2:30pm, pavillion ""B"".
