It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of Bruce Wayne Hamon on December 26, 2023. Bruce died after a valiant fight against acute myeloid leukemia.
Bruce was born in Rapid City, South Dakota in 1952 and spent his early years in Mulvane, Kansas. After being orphaned at 11, Bruce moved to Northglenn where he was raised by his uncle and aunt, along with his brother and cousins. Bruce graduated from Northglenn High School in 1970. He graduated from CSU in 1974 with a degree in construction management.
Bruce spent his early career working as a laborer and superintendent building roads, bridges and other infrastructure. In 1990, he founded Hamon Infrastructure, specializing in urban heavy civil construction work.
Hamon enjoyed many successes during Bruce’s stewardship. However, he was most proud of the individual successes and professional growth of the people with whom he worked. The company has been left in the capable hands of those many employees.
Bruce lived life with fierce and unrelenting enthusiasm, whether pursuing his many hobbies or attacking issues at work. He raced cars and motorcycles, flew airplanes (earning his instrument flight certification), and rode horses (although not well). He also loved camping, boating and fishing.
Bruce is survived by his devoted wife, Muriel Agnelli Hamon, and his children, Wyatt (Jody) Hamon, Lucas (Juliana) Hamon, and stepchildren Tracy Rivera, Austin (Megan) Konkel, and Greyson Konkel, all of whom he loved dearly. He was also blessed with ten grandchildren - Jonah, Scarlett, Sabrina, Samantha, Owen, Autumn, Alena, Joseph, Madison and Caroline.
Bruce’s family would like to thank Dr. Luke Mountjoy and Delaney Patterson, NP, along with all the staff at the Colorado Blood Cancer Institute and the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit at Presbyterian St Luke Hospital, for the excellent care and personal attention they gave Bruce throughout his two years of treatment. Charitable contributions can be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
