Bruce Elwood Isaacs

Bruce Elwood Isaacs passed away Friday, February 8, 2013 in Cedar Hills, Utah. He was 91. He was born to Florence Hutchison and Henry Elwood Isaacs on April 13, 1921 in Mountain Home, Idaho. His sister, Lucille was born four years later and they were constant companions until he was married. The family moved from Mountain Home, to Baker, Oregon. Recognized for his beautiful singing voice at a very young age, he also played the clarinet and saxophone and had his own band during high school as well as playing football. He attended the McCune School of Music in Salt Lake City prior to joining the army. He met his sweetheart, Adele Saville while performing in the opera, Die Fledermaus. It was love at first sight, and they married on August 14, 1942. After being sent to the Pacific during World War II, he returned to Salt Lake City. He became a tenor soloist for the Mormon Tabernacle Choir Sunday evening broadcast of Music and the Spoken word. He moved to Denver in 1951 as a sales executive for Carter Ink Company, and three years later became a pharmaceutical representative based in Colorado Springs, where the family lived until 1983. He was a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in numerous leadership positions. After moving back to Denver in 1983, he worked in the Denver Colorado Temple for 24 years. He had a passion for music and performing and was especially beloved as a choral director-- from musicals to sacred events. He was an avid golfer, took up skiing at age 50 and enjoyed a hobby of photography. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of sixty years, Adele, and a granddaughter, Erin Mayer. He is survived by his sister, Lucille Lee; three children, Jan Mayer, Randy Isaacs and Shellee Lapioli; 9 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held February 15, 2013 in Utah. He will be buried at Ft. Logan National Cemetery, 3698 So. Sheridan Blvd, Denver on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at 12Noon. Family and friends are invited to gather at Staging Area ""A"" at 11:45am.
