Bud Marolt

It is with a heavy heart on January 21st 2025 our beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend passed away.

As a Colorado Native born October 9th 1932 in Aspen CO, he became a legend in the ski industry. Bud was the eldest of the trio brothers. Growing up in Aspen, he became an accomplished ski racer, winning the 1950 Rocky Mountain, Downhill, Slalom and combined Championships. Bud was a member of U.S. Ski Team and was named to the U.S. Olympic Team in 1952.

He created the Loveland Ski Schools children’s ski programs that brought 2,500 kids from Denver to ski each winter. Bud was also the founder of the Loveland Basin Ski Club and established the Loveland Derby, the oldest amateur ski race in the U.S.

Bud served in the United States Army, as the mountaineering and ski instructor for the Mountain and Cold training Command Center at Camp Hail.

For the last 40 years he developed an amazing business promoting company products and services based on hard work and integrity.

Bud is survived by his daughter Jamie and spouse Tom Printz along with son Ted Marolt and spouse Pam Marolt, 5 grandchildren and 14 great-grandkids.
