Burton (Burt) Tracy Carpenter passed away in his home in December 2020. He was 64 years old.
Burton was born on March 19th, 1956 in Indianapolis to Margaret (Wilson) Carpenter and James Louis Carpenter, Sr. Burton relocated with his family to Thornton, Colorado, in 1956, where he grew up, attended school, played tennis, football, basketball, baseball, worked, and resided for most of his life. Burt graduated from Highland High School in 1974. He married Gayla Oakley and they and their boys continued to live in the area. He especially enjoyed baseball, cheering for and coaching both sons and grandson, and watching auto racing, a hobby he shared with his father, Jim, Sr.
He worked several different jobs to help raise his two sons and graduated from the nursing program at Front Range Community College after which he worked as a nurse in the Denver area. His smile, quick wit and laugh was always welcome at family gatherings and visits with his many childhood friends.
Burton is survived by his sons, Steven Chad (Heather) Carpenter, Frederick CO and Justin Tyler (Jamie Kocol) Carpenter, Broomfield CO. Burton was a proud grandfather to Ryland (15), Nayla (12), Kinsley (8), Tyson (6) and Coy (5). Burton is also survived by brothers, Jim (Katy) Carpenter Jr, Boulder CO and John (Anita) Carpenter, Kelowna BC., and a sister Jackie (Eric) Slade, Parker CO. He was an uncle to many nieces and nephews and a friend to all he came in contact with.
He is remembered by his family as a man with a huge heart, empathy for all and as a person who loved his boys and his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Margaret Carpenter, and by his brother-in-law, Eric Slade.
