C. Franklin Hight

July 21, 1925 — December 16, 2010

Franklin was born in Kansas City, Missouri to Frank & Matilda Hight. He was blessed with a loving family and a little brother Billy. The family moved to Colorado when the boys were young and called Denver their home! Franklin was quite the lady's man and loved to dance the night away at the famed Elitch Gardens Trocadero Ballroom. He came close four times to marriage but never chose to settle down. He graduated from Cathedral High School in 1944 and earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the College of Business Administration (now known as DU) in August 1948. He retired in 1981 after working 33 years for the Air Reserve Personnel Center. After that he worked 6 years as an accountant for 2 mortuaries in Lakewood. He was a proud member of Our Lady of the Lourdes Church and ushered with dear friend Ernie Russo for years until he was physically unable to attend. He was also Treasurer of Council 539 of the Knight of Columbus. Franklin loved to travel and photographed many areas of the United States. His love of animals was apparent and would always light up when there were dogs around. Willie III, his beloved parakeet, was a wonderful companion and one of Franklin's best friends. Golfing, bowling, baseball and college football were some of Franklin's favorite past times. The Fighting Irish Notre Dame football team should be proud to have had him as one of their biggest fans! Unfortunately Diabetes caused him some hardship and slowed his mobility, but this did not stop him from going places whenever anyone would offer him a ride. He loved City Park and to go out to eat. He was so fond of breakfast he would have it for lunch. Franklin had a wonderful support group in his neighbors, especially Carmen who has been his caregiver and friend for many years. Franklin's several cousins will miss his ornery ways and wish him all the happiness in his new life. And if he was here today, we know he would thank Jackie for all she has done for him and for being a devoted friend. Perhaps they are not stars in the sky, but rather openings where our loved ones shine down to let us know they are happy!
